* The Renaissance movement continued from the 14th to the 17th centuries in Europe. During this period a scientific and rational approach to thinking developed in Europe. There was great advancement in science and intellectual growth.
* There arose a revolt against the tyranny of the priests and the Church which caused the Church to split into two sects – the Roman Catholics and the Protestants.
Beginning of Modern Age – Discoveries and Explorations
* Exploration of some great travellers like Marco Polo, Columbus Magellan and Vasco Da Gama revolutionised the way the way world viewed.
* Trade and Commerce flourished which led to the colonisation of Africa and Asia by European countries.
* This race for colonisation created an environment for the First World War.
