Application of Integrals
Areas Under Simple Curves
* Area of the region bounded by the curve, y = ƒ(x), the coordinates x = a and x = b,
and the X– axis = \int_{a}^{b} ƒ(x) dx.
* Area of the region bounded by the curve, x = ɡ(y), the coordinates y = c and y = d,
and the Y– axis = \int_{c}^{d} g(y) dy.
Area Between Simple Curves
If ƒ(x) and ɡ(x) are two curves such that ƒ(x) ≥ ɡ(x), ∀ x ∈ [a, b], then area between ƒ(x) and ɡ(x) = \int_{a}^{b} [ ƒ(x) − g (x) ] dx
